The outlet worked alongside Statista to compile a list that gives each hospital a score based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts, as well as public data received from post-hospitalization patient surveys.

Meanwhile, the score serves as an analysis of medical and quality metrics including hygiene, patient/doctor ratio, and a Statista survey on whether hospitals use Patient Reported Outcome Measures — standardized questionnaires that are filled out by patients to assess their results and overall experience.

More than 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries were listed in this year’s edition of the series, which began in 2019 and has grown to include Chile and Malaysia, most of Western Europe and Scandinavia, 10 Asian countries, Australia, and countries elsewhere in the Americas.

Scroll down to view the Maryland medical centers that made the list, as well as their respective rank and score:

  • #3 — The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore (91.16%)
  • #44 — Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore (70.77%)
  • #83 — University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore (67.91%)
  • #90 — Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis (67.68%)
  • #111 — Saint Joseph Medical Center, Towson (66.67%)
  • #280 — MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore (63.99%)
  • #332 — MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore (63.27%)

The report noted Saint Joseph Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital as global leaders in both Infection Prevention and Patient Satisfaction.
